BURNING OF LEAVEN

THE CUP OF REDEMPTION, IS FILLED AND THE LEADER OF THE SEDER BEGINS:

This cup represents the third “I Will” - - “I Will redeem you.” God promised His people that He would redeem them from slavery.  It was this cup that Jesus raised after supper in the Upper Room and said: “This is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you.” (Luke 22:20 NIV).  Jesus came to shed His blood as the final sacrifice lamb, so that all who trust in Him are redeemed from sin.

“Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, Creator of the Fruit of the Vine.”

ALL DRINK THE THIRD CUP OF WINE WHILE RECLINING TO THE LEFT.

And thus it was that Jesus instituted the sacrament of Communion saying “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” (1 Corinthians 11:25 NIV)

HALLEL

THE LEADER CONTINUES:

The fourth cup is the Cup of Praise and represents the fourth “I will” - - “I will take you to Me for a people.”  This is God’s promise that He will again gather Israel together; He will be their God and they will by His people.

At the Jewish Passover Seder they partake of the fourth cup at this point.  However, after the third cup, Jesus said: “ I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” (Luke 22:18 NIV)  We believe He was speaking here of the Cup of Hallel, so we will not drink of the fourth cup, until we do so with Him at the glorious Wedding Supper of the Lamb.

THE DOOR IS OPENED EVERY YEAR TO SEE IF MESSIAH WILL APPEAR.
