The
story of the Bible is the story of redemption through Christ and Him Crucified.
There are many “sub-themes,” certainly but ALL streams of the Word of God run
through Calvary and the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. We have the Holy
Ghost because of Calvary; we have divine healing because of the Cross; we have
eternal life because of heaven; we have prosperity because of the Cross; we have
all things relating to spiritual things in God because of the work of the Holy
Spirit THROUGH the Cross of Christ and vice versa. In other words, we can’t
comprehend the Cross without the Spirit of God and we cannot fully understand
and embrace the things of the Spirit without the foundation of what Christ did
at Calvary. The Holy Spirit only works through the parameters of the Cross!

TEXT: Genesis 24:62-66 - And
Isaac came from the way of the well Lahai-roi; for he dwelt in the south
country. [63] And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and
he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and,
behold, the
camels were coming. [64] And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw
Isaac, she lighted off the camel. [65] For she had said unto the servant, What
man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It
is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself. [66] And the
servant told Isaac all things that he had done.
The story of
the Bible is the story of redemption through Christ and Him Crucified. There are
many “sub-themes,” certainly but ALL streams of the Word of God run through
Calvary and the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. We have the Holy Ghost
because of Calvary; we have divine healing because of the Cross; we have eternal
life because of heaven; we have prosperity because of the Cross; we have all
things relating to spiritual things in God because of the work of the Holy
Spirit THROUGH the Cross of Christ and vice versa. In other words, we can’t
comprehend the Cross without the Spirit of God and we cannot fully understand
and embrace the things of the Spirit without the foundation of what Christ did
at Calvary. The Holy Spirit only works through the parameters of the Cross!
1 Cor. 2:9-14
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered
into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love
him. [10] But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit
searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. [11] For what man knoweth the
things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of
God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. [12] Now we have received, not the
spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the
things that are freely given to us of God. [13] Which things also we speak, not
in the words which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost teaches;
comparing spiritual things with spiritual. [14] But the natural man receives not
the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can
he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Paul tells us in Corinthians that all revelation of God’s person, power and plan
is given to us “BY HIS SPIRIT.” The carnal man cannot understand the spiritual
things that pertain to Christ and Him Crucified! They must be spiritually
discerned. We have NOT received the “spirit of the world,” but the SPIRIT WHICH
IS OF GOD!
Let the reader be clear on this all important point: there is no other way to
God except through Christ; there is no way to Christ except through believing in
what Christ did at the Cross; and the way to the Cross is through the drawing
and working of the Holy Spirit and the denying of one’s self through repentance.
Paul declared in Hebrews that this is a GREAT SALVATION!
Hebrews 2:1-3
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have
heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. [2] For if the word spoken by
angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just
recompense of reward; [3] How shall we escape, if we neglect so GREAT SALVATION;
which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by
them that heard him;
This great plan of redemption, drawn by the Father before the world began, has
always been hidden in shadows of the Old Covenant until fulfilled in Christ.
1 Peter 1:20-21
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest
in these last times for you, [21] Who by him do believe in God, that raised him
up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
At times in the Old Covenant God painted for us prophetic portraits of this
great redemptive plan to show us His ultimate goal in His covenant dealings with
Israel through the lives of the patriarchs, the giving of the Law, the Old
Testament Sacrifices, the ministry of the Tabernacle, the Levitical Priesthood
with its regulations, ceremonies and feasts, the words of the prophets, and the
Psalms of David; ALL THESE THINGS POINTED TO CHRIST!
Luke 24:44-46 - And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto
you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were
written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning
me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the
scriptures, [46] And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved
Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: [47] And that
repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all
nations, beginning at Jerusalem. [48] And ye are witnesses of these things.
A period of time under which mankind is answerable to God for how it has obeyed
the revelation of God which it has received. The term dispensation is found
twice in the NKJV:
• "The dispensation of the fullness of the times" <Eph. 1:10>
• "The dispensation of the grace of God" <Eph. 3:2>.
The KJV uses the term four times <1 Cor. 9:17; Eph. 1:10; 3:2; Col. 1:25>
1. Dispensation or administration of the unjust steward (Luke 16:1-9)
2. Dispensation of the gospel (1 Cor. 9:17), which is Paul's administration of
the gospel of grace
3. The dispensation of the grace of God (Ephes. 3:2); the same as pt. 2
4. The dispensation of God (Col. 1:25—God's own administration of grace given to
Paul; the same as pt. 2
5. The dispensation of the fullness of times, in which God gathers together all
things in heaven and in earth in Christ ridding the earth of all rebellion
(Ephes. 1:10; 1 Cor. 15:24-28; Rev. 20)
There are seven dispensations of man commonly identified: Innocence, from
Creation to the Fall of man and God's sending them out of the Garden of Eden
<Gen. 3:24>; Conscience, the covenant with Adam, ending with the judgment of the
Flood <Genesis 9>; Human government, the covenant with Noah, extending to the
time of Abraham; Promise, from Abraham's call <Gen. 12:1> to Moses; Law, from
the giving of the Law to Moses <Ex. 19:8; 20--31> to the death of Jesus Christ;
Grace, from the death and resurrection of Christ to His Second Coming; Kingdom,
the establishment of God's kingdom on earth and the thousand year reign of
Christ over the nations.
This refers to the completion of probationary times on the earth. Christ will
come to reign in the seventh and last dispensation (or probationary period) of
man on earth for the purpose of ridding the earth of all rebellion and restoring
God's administration over this rebellious part of His kingdom, as before
rebellion started (1 Cor. 15:24-28). The test of each dispensation past or
present has always been and still is FAITH.
Those who lived during the dispensations of the Old Covenant were required to
have faith in a coming sacrifice that would be fulfilled in Christ; those under
the New Covenant are required to have faith in the sacrifice that has already
come! The central theme of the Bible is the story of that great redemptive
sacrifice of the Lamb of God.
One such Old Covenant picture of this great redemption we enjoy today as
believers is found in the story of Isaac and Rebecca In Genesis chapter 24.
It is here we see the beginnings of God’s dispensational dealings with man as
the Lord carved out the makings of the nation of Israel which would bring us the
Messiah through the lives of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Chapters 22 to 24 present
a startling picture in many ways of the plan of redemption for all humanity
through the patriarchs. In Chapter 22, the son Isaac is offered up; in Chapter
23, Abraham’s wife Sarah is laid aside, which represents Israel being laid
aside; and in Chapter 24, the servant Eliezer is sent forth to procure a bride
for him who had been, as it were, received from the dead is a figure.
We see in the New Covenant the rejection of Christ, corresponding to the
offering up of Isaac; the setting aside of Israel after the flesh corresponding
with the death of Sarah, and the calling out of the CHURCH, to occupy the high
position of the Bride of the Lamb, typified by a bride for Isaac.
Genesis 24:1-3 - And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the Lord
had blessed Abraham in all things. [2] And Abraham said unto his eldest servant
of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under
my thigh: [3] And I will make thee swear by the Lord, the God of heaven, and the
God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters
of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:
In this beautiful story we see a powerful picture of the work of the Holy Spirit
in the church, the life of the believer and His work bringing souls to Christ
out of the world of sin.
Abraham was 140 years old when He summoned Eliezer to take an oath to find a
bride for His son Isaac. Through this narrative, we have Abraham as a type of
God the Father. Isaac a type of God the Son, Eliezer, a Type of the Holy Spirit;
Rebecca, a type of the church, called out to be a bride to Isaac the son.
We see the putting of the hand under the thigh of the Patriarch, which was the
source of posterity, pointing to Abraham’s FUTURE descendants in particular to
CHRIST, the PROMISED SEED; so the oath Eliezer made to Abraham was actually n
oath to HIM who was to come, namely CHRIST.
Take a Wife unto My Son Isaac
24:4 – “Go unto my country, and to my kindred,” – from the line of Shem, and
“take a WIFE” unto my son Isaac. TYPICAL of the work of the Holy Spirit in the
earth right now calling out believers as a BRIDE for CHRIST, of Whom Isaac was a
type.
The Holy Spirit has promised CHRIST He will carve out a people for HIS NAME. Oh,
Glory to God; that is exactly what He is doing at this very moment in bringing
to Christ all nations, tongues, kindred and tribes. The work of the Holy Spirit
in the earth is just the beginnings of one of the greatest moves of God this
earth has ever seen.
It may seem like nothing is happening but millions are coming to Christ in
record numbers all over this world. The heart of God right now is for world
evangelism.
Abraham warned Eliezer NOT to bring back a woman for Isaac from the daughter of
the Canaanites, who were the descendants of HAM, and not Shem, with the latter
being through which Christ would come, and only through that lineage.
Genesis 9:26 - And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Shem; and Canaan shall
be his servant
He is seeking and saving that which is LOST. The church world may be concerned
with building buildings, but God is concerned about lost souls! The church world
may be concerned about raising funds for their pet projects and kingdom now
ideas but the Lord is seeking those who will worship HIM in SPIRIT and in TRUTH.
Are you hearing me neighbor? The HOLY GHOST is going about doing His work in the
earth and as Paul said in Romans, it will be “short work.”
Romans 9:28 -30 - For he will finish the work, and cut it short in
righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. [29] And
as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabbath had left us a seed, we had
been as Sodom, and been made like unto Gomorrah. [30] What shall we say then?
The Holy Spirit is at work this second “calling out” a body of Christ. This work
is one of His most important. Ever since the CROSS that has been the work of the
Holy Spirit in the world. He’s orchestrating events right now to CALL out those
who will heed His touch. Neighbor, you can’t outrun the HOLY GHOST! You may run
but you can’t hide. At some point in every born again child of God’s life there
was a moment when the HOLY GHOST reached out and CALLED you into this Body!
John 6:44- No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw
him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 12:32 - And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
1 Cor. 12:3 - Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the
Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the
Lord, but by the Holy Ghost
1 Cor. 12:11-19 - For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the
members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. [13] For
by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles,
whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
[14] For the body is not one member, but many. [15] If the foot shall say,
Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the
body? [16] And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the
body; is it therefore not of the body? [17] If the whole body were an eye, where
were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? [18] But
now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased
him. [19] And if they were all one member, where were the body?
John 16:7-11 - Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I
go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I
depart, I will send him unto you. [8] And when he is come, he will reprove the
world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: [9] Of sin, because they
believe not on me; [10] Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see
me no more; [11] Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
We were “baptized into the Body of Christ” by ONE SPIRIT. That “ONE SPIRIT” is
the SPIRIT OF GOD, through which we call JESUS LORD!
Bring Not My Son Hither Again
Genesis 24:5-9 And the servant said unto him, Peradventure the woman will not
be willing to follow me unto this land: must I needs bring thy son again unto
the land from whence thou camest? [6] And Abraham said unto him, Beware thou
that thou bring not my son thither again. [7] The Lord God of heaven, which took
me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spoke unto
me, and that swore unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he
shall send his angel before thee, and thou shall take a wife unto my son from
thence. [8] And if the woman will not be willing to follow thee, then thou shall
be clear from this my oath: only bring not my son thither again. [9] And the
servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him
concerning that matter.
Eliezer was on an errand to get a bride for Isaac. The Holy Spirit came to get a
bride for Christ! Isaac would remain in Canaan, and the woman was to come to
Canaan to be with him. Jesus is not coming “hither” again but is in heaven until
the times of restitution end and the heavens release Him to come again.
Acts 3:21
Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which
God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
John 14:1-4
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. [2] In my
Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go
to prepare a place for you. [3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will
come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
[4] And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
When He comes again the SECOND time, He’s not coming to be put on a cross a
second time; He’s coming as KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS.
Hebrews 9:26-28
For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now
once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice
of himself. [27] And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the
judgment: [28] So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto
them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto
salvation.
If the Bride refused the invitation, Eliezer would be free of the oath. If we
refuse this great invitation, the HOLY SPIRIT is free of His job. He cannot
force nor will He force His way into ANY situation! We must CHOOSE to be part of
this Body of Christ today.
Ten Camels…Loaded Down With All the Goods of His Master
Genesis 24:10-13
And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for
all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to
Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor. [11] And he made his camels to kneel down
without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time
that women go out to draw water. [12] And he said, O Lord God of my master
Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and show kindness unto my
master Abraham. [13] Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the
daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:
When Jesus went to glory, He told us that He would send back the Holy Ghost. The
Holy Ghost would not be sent back to testify of himself, but to bring us to
CHRIST and do ALL things for those who anchored their faith in what Christ did
at the Cross. That is the parameters He works in. Nothing else but faith will He
honor. And it’s not abstract faith even in “faith,” but FAITH IN THE CROSS!
Luke 24:49 - And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry
ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
Acts 1:5-8 - For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with
the Holy Ghost not many days hence. [6] When they therefore were come together,
they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the
kingdom to Israel? [7] And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the
times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. [8] But ye
shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto
the uttermost part of the earth.
John 14:26 - But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will
send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your
remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 15:26-27 - But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from
the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall
testify of me: [27] And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me
from the beginning.
John 16:13-21 - Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you
into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear,
that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. [14] He shall glorify
me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. [15] All things
that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and
shall shew it unto you. [16] A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again,
a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. [17] Then said
some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A
little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall
see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
When Jesus sent back the Holy Ghost, He didn’t send the Holy Ghost back empty
handed. He came “with ALL the goods of His master” in Hand!!! In this narrative,
Eliezer came on the back of camels laden down with goods, jewels and ALL that
Abraham had. Abraham was “blessed in ALL things.” God is the source of ALL
blessings and good gifts that come from above.
James 1:17 -18 – Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and
cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither
shadow of turning. [18] Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that
we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
It’s not by chance Eliezer came on camels! Although one of the ugliest beasts
known to man the camel is prized in desert countries. From the time of Abraham,
the Bible mentions camels frequently, mostly in lists of possessions. Large
herds of camels were a sign of wealth. Camels are bad-tempered, prone to spit
and grumble when they take on a load. But they are well suited for harsh desert
life.
With a heavy coat as insulation, this animal perspires little; and his
well-balanced system does not require much liquid. He can go for weeks or even
months without water. When he does drink, he takes only enough to replace lost
moisture. Each one of his three stomachs can hold 23 liters (5 gallons) of
water. In the hump on his back the camel stores fat for times when food is
scarce. Then the hump shrinks when his body draws on that reserve. He holds his
head high with what seems to be a haughty air, but he is merely peering out from
under bushy eyebrows.
Like his tightly closing lips and nostrils, his eyebrows protect him against
desert sandstorms. His tough feet are ideal for walking through sharp rocks and
hot sands. Desert tribes rode camels to war <Judges 7:12>, and camels were
seized as spoils of war. He is trained to kneel on his leathery knees to take on
a load and to release the burdens already on his back. We Pentecostals may be an
ugly bunch, bad-tempered sometimes too; yes, we grumble and complain too much
when we take on a load; but when the chips are down and all hell is breaking
loose on planet earth, believe me we’re the ones the world turns to for answers.
When wicked Ahab and Jezebel watched drought cover the land for 3 ½ years it was
not the meteorologists they went looking for, they went looking for the prophet!
They’re going to come looking for those they understand the least. The answer to
the world’s ills is not found in Hollywood. The answer is not found in the so
called wisdom of Nashville. It’s not found in the so called intellect of Wall
Street. The answer to the ills of man is found in the hearts of every born
again believer, child of God, uh, we “camels” as they say! We ourselves are not
the answer but we know the ONE who IS the answer! We have the power of the ONE
known as the HOLY GHOST IN us has given us the strength and endurance of camels
to withstand the onslaught of hell itself.
You see, we Christians can go a LONG time without water; do a lot MORE than the
average person; and when the devil knocks us down, we just get back up and go at
it again and again and again. And if the devil keeps getting in our way – we
just stare the devil down and in the name of Jesus we’ll just SPIT in his eye!
Oh my Lord, I feel that.
The devil has been defeated at the cross of Calvary. There is no power of
darkness in the earth that can conquer you child of God. There is no sickness or
sin that can overcome you child of God as long as your faith in anchored in the
Cross. There is no bondage or addiction known to man that can overcome you child
of God as long as your faith is in the Cross because if it’s in the CROSS, the
HOLY GHOST is working FOR YOU and IN YOU and THROUGH YOU. Satan is not scared of
our formulas but he shrieks in horror at the power of the HOLY GHOST! Satan
mocks the modern church world with its humanistic efforts to save man out of his
sin; he shrieks in horror when the church preaches the Cross and the HOLY GHOST
starts convicting souls and setting captives free!
“GREATER” is HE that IN YOU than HE that is in the World! Satan does not know
what is about to hit him neighbor. That is why he is attacking the church right
now with so much false doctrine and trying hard to bring it further into
apostasy. He knows if he keeps the Holy Ghost out of our churches he keeps JESUS
out of the churches! He knows if he keeps the Holy Ghost out he keeps people
from getting saved. He knows if he keeps the Holy Ghost out he keeps people from
being delivered. He knows if he keeps the Holy Ghost out he keeps broken hearts
from being mended. He knows, he knows, he knows that if he keeps the Holy Ghost
out of the church, he keeps a stronghold of darkness, deception and demonic
bondage fully entrenched from top to bottom!
But hear this writer! THE CAMELS ARE COMING! THE CAMELS ARE COMING! THE CAMELS
ARE COMING! Despite three quarters of the church falling into apostasy, there is
still a remnant of people who are going to believe God and keep their faith
anchored in the Cross of Christ. The camels are coming friend; Hear what I say
to you Satan – the camels are coming. You may think you have the church where
you want it – but there is about to explode on planet Earth a power that is
greater than anything you can throw at us. The power of the HOLY GHOST is going
to break through the gates of hell in Iran; in Afghanistan; in Saudi Arabia; in
Sudan; in Ethiopia; in Indonesia; in China; in Russia; in Turkey; in all parts
of the world. For God so LOVED THE WORLD that He gave His only begotten Son!
That’s why the dearth of power and spirituality in the church world today is so
blasphemous and damnable. The Holy Ghost is not some abstract force. The Holy
Ghost is not some doctrine to argue over and divide the church. He is not some
theological argument, He is GOD. He is the HELPER, the COMFORTER, the DYNAMO,
the POWER, the LEADER, the PROTECTOR, the PROVIDER, the MOVER, the PULPIT
COMMITTEE, the OIL, the FIRE, the WIND, and the HEAVENLY DOVE. HE IS THE LIFE OF
THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD; WITHOUT HIM WE ARE NOTHING MORE THAN A BUILDING
WITH PEOPLE IN IT.
All the goods of our Heavenly Father are in the hands of the Holy Spirit, our
Heavenly Eliezer. Nothing the church needs is found anywhere else.
The Camels Kneel Down Without the City by A Well of Water
Genesis 24:11
And he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well of water at the
time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water.
Eliezer brings the camel by a well of water at the time of the evening,
typifying the “living water,” given to the church by Christ in these last days.
We are living in the last of the last days and it’s ‘evening’ time. If the
church of the living God has ever needed the living water it needs it today. The
Holy Spirit is typified by water many times in Scripture. Souls of men are
parched dry because of the lack of living water found in the institutions of the
church. The American church is trying so hard to “Christianize” people instead
of seeing men “BORN AGAIN!” Men must be drawn to Christ just as Eliezer “drew”
water for the camels.
John 7:37-39 - In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and
cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. [38] He that
believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers
of living water. [39] (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe
on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus
was not yet glorified.)
John 4:14 - But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall
never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of
water springing up into everlasting life.
John 6:44 - No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw
him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Rebecca, A Type of the Church; Living Water For The Camels
Genesis 24:15-22
And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came
out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's
brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder. [16] And the damsel was very fair
to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the
well, and filled her pitcher, and came up. [17] And the servant ran to meet her,
and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher. [18] And she
said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand,
and gave him drink. [19] And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I
will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking. [20] And she
hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to
draw water, and drew for all his camels. [21] And the man wondering at her held
his peace, to wit whether the Lord had made his journey prosperous or not. [22]
And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden
earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels
weight of gold;
Eliezer makes the camels kneel down by the well of water at the time of evening,
even the time the women go out to draw water. He prays to God and says, “Lord
God of Abraham, send me good speed this day, and show kindness unto my master
Abraham.” He puts a fleece so to speak that was not simple or easy; camels drink
an awful lot of water, and for a young lady to draw enough water to slate the
thirst of TEN camels, and for her to volunteer to do so, even without being
asked, would have to be the Lord!
Before he finishes his prayer, a type of the intercessory work of the Holy
Spirit on earth, Rebecca comes forth with a pitcher on her shoulder, a woman who
will figure so prominently in the plan of God. The servant runs to meet her,
this beautiful virgin.
The Bible says Rebecca was “very fair to look upon.” When Christ sees His true
church, He sees as “very fair to look upon!” Christ loves the church and shed
His life’s blood to redeem and purchase us for His own. The beauty He sees came
at a great price without a doubt. We were not fair to look upon because of sin
but because of what HE did for us at the Cross through His blood we can know
today that He loves us – even in our weakness – and we are “FAIR TO LOOK UPON!”
Rebecca was a virgin, as the church is the virgin bride of Christ through the
covenant of the Cross. She fills her pitcher with water, a type of the Church
filling and partaking of the Water of Life. We cannot partake of anything else
if we are to give this same water of life to a dying world. The church preaches
a gospel today that is not quenching the thirst of those listening to us because
any gospel that does not preach the CROSS through the power of the Holy Ghost is
a false gospel and will always leave its hearers still bound and thirsty and
hungry.
Is
There Room In Your Father’s House For Us To Lodge In?
Genesis 24:22-23
And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden
earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels
weight of gold; [23] And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is
there room in thy father's house for us to lodge in?
Eliezer takes a golden earring of half a shekel and two bracelets for her hands
weight in gold, about $5,000 worth in today’s economy, a type of the GIFTS of
the Holy Ghost the Lord has given to the church, and places them on Rebekkah.
It’s a type of the work the Holy Ghost begins in us when we answer His request,
“is there room?”
That is the question that the Holy Ghost asks EVERY believing sinner. He will
never force His way into a life neighbor. He will not force His way into your
church or denomination. He will not force His way into a situation He is not
wanted. Sir, if you want to hang on to your addiction to alcohol and/or drugs
and continue to destroy your family, wife and kids, then He will allow you to do
just that. He will plead, convict, deal and gently push, but He will never
override your will. You must decide to repent and turn away from the sin FIRST,
THEN He will do His work in your life. If you will but say “yes” there is
“room,” for you Jesus, then the Holy Spirit, the Lord’s representative here on
Earth, will come and do HIS WORK!!!!
How many times has the Holy Spirit been quenched or grieved in our churches
because we have pushed him away? How many times has the Holy Spirit wept because
we have not allowed him to have full sway in our services?? How many times have
preachers gotten behind pulpits and through their own unbelief and hardness of
heart shut the door in the face of the HOLY GHOST and said “we don’t have room
for that here!” Oh, neighbor, the time is so short that we cannot afford to push
Him out. We so desperately need God the Holy Ghost!
Rebekkah replies “we have room.” Neighbor, whenever a church says “we have
room,” the Holy Ghost will come and take up lodging. Whenever a home says “we
have room,” the Holy Spirit will come and mend broken marriages, heal torn
hearts and produce the godliest of love between husband and wife, children and
parents. Peace reigns at the home of those who have given the Holy Ghost “room.”
When HE comes, souls are saved, sick bodies are healed, bondages broken, hearts
mended and spirits lifted. VICTORY over sin, the flesh and the devil are found
at the foot of the cross and through the power of the welcomed Holy Ghost. The
Holy Spirit awaits the same response and answer from us.
A Long Way from Home………..
Genesis 24:28
And the damsel ran, and told them of her mother's house these things.
She runs to her family, tells them all that Eliezer has shared with her about
the trip (24:28). This was no small journey; some 700 miles from Nahor to
Mesopotamia did the servant go to get a bride for Isaac. Some 2,000 years ago
because of what Jesus did for us at the Cross, the Holy Ghost came a LONG way
from Glory to Earth to secure a bride for the Crucified Lamb of Glory.
Laban, Rebecca’s brother, sees the earring, beautiful garments and the bracelets
upon his sister’s hand, a type of the Righteousness of Christ and the Holiness
of God’s character in the believer. I ask you today, does the world see those
things in us when they look at us? Laban hears the words of Rebekkah, thus he
“sees” and “hears” all that has happened with Abraham’s servant. Friend, the
world MUST SEE AND HEAR the gospel of Jesus Christ for it to take notice of what
God is doing on the world’s behalf!
Paul cried in Romans, “how shall they believe in him WHOM THEY HAVE NOT HEARD!?’
The way the world hears is through the preaching of the gospel not the
foolishness of this psycho babble that has gripped the modern church world
today. God help us. The preaching of the gospel under the anointing of the Holy
Ghost will bring the conviction needed to change hearts and lives. It’s the only
thing that will work neighbor!
Romans 10:14-18
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall
they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without
a preacher? [15] And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is
written.
Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Laban looks at the situation then says, “We have prepared the house and room for
the camels.” This statement has profound meaning for us today!
So many people want the “gifts” of the Holy Ghost but they don’t want to make
“room,” for the camels, i.e. that which they consider to be an imposition. But
if we are to have the gifts and ministries of the Holy Ghost in our churches, we
MUST make room for the camels! There are diversities of administrations,
ministries and gifts of the Spirit that the church world today so little
partakes of.
Most of what goes on today is nothing more than machinery that is built upon
dead theology. The word of God must work hand in hand with the Spirit of God.
You can’t have one without the other and expect to have a New Covenant church.
The Spirit of God agrees with the Word and the Word agrees with the Spirit!
Neither contradicts the other. The Spirit will always point the church to the
Cross and a proper understanding of the Cross will always embrace the fullness
of the Holy Ghost! Christ died that men may be filled with the baptism of the
Holy Ghost. Christ died to save our souls from hell and fill men with His Spirit
and yes, with the initial evidence of speaking with other tongues! You don’t
have to speak in tongues to be saved, but tongues are part of the “camels!”
The modern “user” friendly mentality of the church world today wants church to
be “proper,” and “neat.” I’m sorry friend but when the Holy Ghost shows up it is
not always “proper and neat.” Things get messy sometimes so ORDER can be brought
out of chaos. Yes we do things decently and in order but we don’t make that a
mantra we hide behind to justify our unbelief and hardness of heart!
Hinder Me Not.....
Genesis 24:52-56
And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he
worshipped the Lord, bowing himself to the earth. [53] And the servant brought
forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to
Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things. [54] And
they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him, and tarried all
night; and they rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away unto my
master. [55] And her brother and her mother said, Let the damsel abide with us a
few days, at the least ten; after that she shall go. [56] And he said unto them,
Hinder me not, seeing the Lord hath prospered my way; send me away that I may go
to my master.
Eliezer tells Laban and Rebecca’s family the reason he is here. They know that
more than likely if Rebekkah accepts his invitation they will never see her
again. When we come to Jesus we say GOODBYE to our old lives! We don’t hang on
to the world and Christ too – that is not true Biblical salvation! We say
“goodbye,” to sin and YES to HIM!
The servant brings forth jewels of silver, jewels of gold, and raiment, and
gives them to her, and to her brother and mother, “precious things.” The silver
was a type of our redemption by blood; the gold, a type of the divine nature
inside each believer; the raiment, a type of the righteousness of Christ,
through the blood. The worth and cost of all these items was staggering. The
SPIRITUAL gifts to the Church, made possible by Christ and what He did at the
Cross, are also staggering in cost knowing the price that was paid for us to
have these things today.
He has given to us “precious things.” These “precious things” in the life of
every believer are not to be taken lightly, which sadly, they are. We take for
granted the work the Holy Ghost does in our lives. Some get frustrated when they
don’t see the progress as quick as they should, but neighbor, the work the Holy
Spirit is doing is ETERNAL, not temporal. He wants to do more than just a “quick
fix,” to our problems; He wants to get us ready for eternity.
2 Peter 1:3-16
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto
life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory
and virtue: [4] Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises:
that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the
corruption that is in the world through lust. [5] And beside this, giving all
diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; [6] And to
knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; [7]
And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
Laban wants the servant to stay the night and eat, but the servant objects and
says, “hinder me not, seeing he Lord has prospered my way, send me away that I
may go to my master.” That is the same attitude the Holy Ghost has today. .
There is URGENCY to the work of the HOLY SPIRIT in the earth today unlike any
time in human history. Events are taking place this very second that are
orchestrating the rise of the man of sin, the coming Tribulation and the Second
Coming of Christ. The Spirit of God is saying to us, “HINDER ME NOT – LET ME DO
THE WORK I NEED TO DO IN THE CHURCH TODAY.” Much of what goes on in the ‘name’
of Jesus does nothing to help but it HINDERS the work of the Holy Ghost.
The Holy Ghost’s errand is two-fold – reaching out and convicting the lost in
the form of one final harvest and the other is preparing the world stage for the
coming time of travail and tribulation that will ultimately see all of Israel
saved. There is coming a “MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB” in heaven that cannot
start until the Bride of Christ has been secured here in earth. Israel was to be
that wife, but having forfeited the position, at least for now, the Church is
the focus of God’s attention, at least during this dispensation of Grace.
The Jewish people as a whole are lost and without God. There is a growing number
of Jewish people who are coming to Messiah each and every day which we praise
the Lord for. But national Israel as a whole is still lost and in need of
Messiah. There is only one way to God for both Jew and Gentile – and that is
through he shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I Will Go.........
Genesis 24:58 - And they called Rebekkah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with
this man? And she said, I will go.
The Holy Spirit is asking us the same question, “will you go?” As we near the
end of the church age and the Holy Spirit is getting us ready for the rapture,
He is asking you and I today, “will YOU GO?” It’s a very serious question friend
and not one to be taken lightly of flippantly! The answer will determine
eternity for billions one day. When He deals with our hearts we must answer Him
quickly! There are not guarantees He will ask again when He calls once.
The lights put up in the regions of our soul when we were children remain their
for life. All men are given opportunity at least once to say “yes,” to the call
of God for salvation. Many have more than one call but we ALL have at least one.
No man will be able to stand before God and say they were not warned or dealt
with concerning their eternal soul.
That’s why turning off God the Holy Ghost is so dangerous. Our hearts grow hard
and cold when we do that. Friend, we know not what tomorrow holds and whether
our next breath will be in this life or in the life to come. This is not the end
game as some put it. There is eternity for ALL – whether it be in hell or
heaven. We don’t preach this anymore as we are so busy caught up preaching about
blessing and prosperity. The Holy Ghost’s job is more than just bringing the
trinkets and bobbles. Certainly, these things were to show Rebekkah what awaited
her if she said “yes,” but they were but an “earnest,” of a greater inheritance
she would find with Isaac.
When we got saved and the Holy Spirit came to live, He came as an “earnest,” of
our full redemption one day we will receive if we obey the word of God and live
by faith in Christ to the end!
Ephes. 4:30-32 - And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed
unto the day of redemption. [31] Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and
clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: [32] And be
ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for
Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Let Your Seed Possess the Gate of Those Who Hate You
Genesis 24:59-60
And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant,
and his men. [60] And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our
sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess
the gate of those which hate them.
Little did Laban know that a staggering number, “thousands of millions,” would
in fact come to possess the gates of the enemy one day through Christ. Every
single person who is born again is part of this number. Rebecca’s “SEED” Jesus
Christ has “possessed the gate” of all enemies, signifying total victory in
every capacity. Those who believe in Him have that same victory through faith in
what He did for us at the Cross and through His Blood!
Genesis 24:61
And Rebekkah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed
the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.
Rebekkah arose, got on the camels, and followed the servant who “went his way.”
We are to follow the Holy Spirit to all of His leading, and always without
exception HE WILL LEAD US TO CHRIST. Jesus said when He comes, He will not speak
of Himself but will “GLORIFY ME!”
John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my
name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance,
whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 15:26
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even
the Spirit of truth, which proceeded from the Father, he shall testify of me:
When I See Him, I Will Live….
Genesis 24:62-67 - And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahai-roi; for he
dwelt in the south country. [63] And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at
the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were
coming. [64] And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted
off the camel. [65] For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that
walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master:
therefore she took a vail, and covered herself. [66] And the servant told Isaac
all things that he had done. [67] And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's
tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was
comforted after his mother's death.
The well, “Lahai-roi,” means “when I see Him, I will live.” It was a well in the
wilderness between Kadesh Barnea and Bered in the Desert of Shur <Gen. 16:14>.
It received its name when an angel appeared to Hagar in this place. Hagar's son
Ishmael lived here both before and after the death of Abraham his father. <Gen.
24:62; 25:11> It was here where Isaac would meet Rebekkah.
One day soon, the trump of God will sound and we will go to meet our Heavenly
Isaac - and when we “SEE” Him, we shall live. Corruption will put on
incorruption, mortality will put on immortality and death will be swallowed up
in victory.
1 Cor. 15:51-55
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be
changed, [52] In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for
the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we
shall be changed. [53] For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this
mortal must put on immortality. [54] So when this corruptible shall have put on
incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be
brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
[55] O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
Isaac goes out to meditate in the field at the evening. Jesus is ever
interceding for us at this very moment. It’s getting late in the evening
neighbor. Time is short and it won’t be much longer before His intercessory work
in heaven is complete as well as the intercessory work of the Holy Spirit on
earth. We have two intercessors praying that we make it through this life.
While in prayer, He looks up and he sees the camel train coming. I can almost
hear the servants around Isaac’s tent cry, “the camels are coming, the camels
are coming!” One day and one day soon, our Heavenly Isaac will look up and see
us coming and we will be riding upon the “camels” of the Holy Ghost train!
1 Thes. 4:14-16
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep
in Jesus will God bring with him. [15] For this we say unto you by the word of
the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall
not prevent them which are asleep. [16] For the Lord himself shall descend from
heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God:
and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Rebekkah lifts her eyes sees Isaac; she lights off the camel, meeting Him at his
place of prayer. When the trump sounds, we’re going to meet our Heavenly Isaac
at His place of prayer in heaven – the right hand of God.
Heb 7:25- Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come
unto God by him, seeing he ever lives to make intercession for them.
Rebekkah asks Eliezer, “who is this man that walks in the fields to meet us?”
Eliezer says, “This is my master.” One day we’re going to ask the Holy Spirit,
“who is this Jesus we’re going to meet?” She takes a veil and covers herself, a
type of the glory of humility on the church by the Holy Ghost. The servant then
tells Isaac ALL things that he had done. What a story. One day at the judgment
seat, when we stand before the Lord, the HOLY SPIRIT will tell HIS MASTER ALL
that he has done to make us faultless before Him.
Jude 1:23-24 - And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire;
hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. [24] Now unto him that is able to
keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his
glory with exceeding joy,
Some say faultless? The Holy Spirit is going to present us faultless and stand
with us even at the end when we must give an account. HE IS THE ONE WORKING ON
US TO MAKE US HIS WORKMANSHIP EVEN AT THIS VERY SECOND. All the conviction, the
leading, the warning, the pleading, the patience and the intercession – will be
worth it all one day when we stand before our Heavenly Isaac.
Romans 8:27-28 - And he that searches the hearts knoweth what is the mind of
the Spirit, because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will
of God. [28] And we know that all things work together for good to them that
love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Eph 2:7-10- That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of
his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye
saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of
works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ
Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in
them.
Isaac brings Rebekkah and takes her into Sarah’s tent and she becomes his wife.
In those days, the primitive marriage ceremony consisted solely of the taking of
a bride before witnesses. The word “death,” is added here by the translators and
was not in the original text. It is as if the Holy Spirit would not conclude
this beautiful and joyful narrative with a note of sorrow. There will no sorrow
in heaven when we get home.
1 Thes. 4:16-17 - For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a
shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead
in Christ shall rise first: [17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be
caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so
shall we ever be with the Lord.
And when we who are alive in Christ are caught up, along with the dead in
Christ, we will join many WITNESSES in heaven to complete the Body of Christ and
become PART of the MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB. The Holy Ghost bears witness
with OUR spirit that we are the children of God.
Hebrews 8:10-12 - For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of
Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and
write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me
a people: [11] And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man
his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the
greatest. [12] For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins
and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Hebrews
10:15-18 - Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had
said before, [16] This is the covenant that I will make with them after those
days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds
will I write them; [17] And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
[18] Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
We will not be there because we’re Baptist, or Methodist or Pentecostal. We will
be there because of a DEATH. The blood stained hands of Jesus will embrace us
for eternity. His wounds will be an eternal remembrance of what He did for us
2,000 years ago that the reason we are able to be in God’s presence is because
of the Blood. The Holy Spirit will be there. The Lord Jesus will be there and
God will be there. And we will at the end of this journey understand the power
and grace of the Holy Ghost and what He did for us while here on earth.
I pray you know this Heavenly Isaac today – the Lord Jesus Christ. His Father’s
servant, the Holy Spirit, is out looking for more to become part of this bride
He will carry back to glory one day to present to the Father. If you don’t know
Him today you can! Repent, believe the gospel and be saved today. Notice I said,
“REPENT,” first. That is the first thing one must do – admit one is a sinner and
determine not to live a sinful life. Then confess you believe that Jesus is the
only answer for your sin and believe God raised Him from the dead. The Bible
says that “whosoever,” then calls upon the name of the LORD SHALL BE SAVED! You
will then be part of this Heavenly Bridal group headed to glory. I pray that you
will be there one day. I plan to be.
