I have never been more excited or encouraged about a online study like the one you and I are about to embark on. The work of the Holy Spirit cannot be covered in a short time. This is the first of a full-length ongoing study of the Holy Spirit and His work in our lives as Believers coming to Spirit Journals. This study is probably however the most controversial because of the division between many in the Body of Christ over this subject. Entire denominations oppose the teaching of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, yet millions have been gloriously filled with God's Spirit in a second work of grace AFTER they have been born again.

 

 

We want to make a couple of points very clear:

 

• We do NOT believe one has to speak in tongues to be saved

• We do NOT believe that speaking in tongues will even make one a better Christian per say but the infilling of the Spirit WILL produce a power in one's walk with God that will be unparalleled to anything the believer will ever experience

• As all gifts and graces of the Lord are given - this is FREELY given, not earned or bought with a price save one - the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Any spiritual gift must always exalt the GIVER, the one whose shed blood purchased this great power of salvation for us at the Cross.

 

 Having said that- let me state this without hesitation: YOU NEED THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY GHOST WITH THE EVIDENCE OF SPEAKING IN TONGUES! I have dear friends who don't agree with that. We don't stop being friends over it - but I hold my ground with this. The baptism in the Holy Ghost is the greatest gift to the believer, just as salvation is the greatest gift to the sinner. We don't believe one has to speak in tongues to be saved but we believe for those who receive this glorious gift the door is opened to a new realm of revelation, power and prayer unlike anything the believer will ever experience. The greatest purpose of Pentecost is to endue the believer with a greater revelation of Jesus and endue them with power to be His witness in these last days. I know the arguments within the Body and sadly have lost relationships because of some of these disagreements. The truth is however that those who have been gloriously filled understand this is more than a doctrine but a BIBLICAL experience experienced by the apostles up to TODAY.

 

If one has a closed mind going in then chances are they are going to have a closed mind going out. Unbelief and willful ignorance are two things that sadly the Holy Ghost even has a hard time fighting against. We're not here to draw swords with the unbelieving, but we are here to help those who are serious about finding out more about this powerful second work of Grace after one has been saved. It's a vital, important part of one's Christian walk with God. It's not the only ingredient of our faith for sure, but neighbor it is an important one because at the end of the day ANYTHING the HOLY GHOST does for us as believers is of utmost importance. He is the dynamo, the power of God that produces Christ in US and no other power Nor SCHEME or program of man can do no matter how spiritual it sounds on the surface. There are no 12 step programs with the Spirit of God. HE PRODUCES CHRIST!

 

Millions have experienced the power of Pentecost and no one who has ever experienced it has said "this is wrong!" No one who has ever tasted the power of God upon their lives ever say "I don't want more of that." The greatest hindrance to people embracing Pentecost is religion and unbelief. Basically those two sisters of hell go hand in hand sadly and even more sadly the church world dances with both today.

 

The church so needs another Pentecost.

 We cannot witness about a Christ we do not know nor can we witness outside the power of the Holy Spirit.

 

This study is in the initial stages but we do have a complete section on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit that will get you started. We plan to do a short study soon on Prophecy and the vocal gifts in general as well as looking at all the gifts of the Spirit in due season.
